Official information ↗

Where Small Things Shimmer is a two-person exhibition by Lee Sebeen and Lee Chaewon at 16 Archive in Jung-gu, Seoul, running from September 10 through October 4, 2026. The artists approach the surrounding world and inner experience from different directions, using small forms and material structures to make subtle changes perceptible.

The official introduction describes close observation not as a way to fix a subject in place, but as a process of discovering differences and relationships within it. The exhibition brings two distinct modes of attention together in a single space.

Two ways of turning sensation into form

Lee Sebeen collects sounds and vibrations from everyday surroundings and translates them into the movement of particles and surfaces. Her work focuses on the visual traces created when invisible waves meet physical material, including the way particular frequencies can be carried into ceramic form.

Lee Chaewon examines inner states that are easily reduced to a single label, such as loneliness or absence. She gathers dispersed elements—including memory, distance and bodily sensation—and gives them temporary cohesion through small figures and material structures.

Three details to notice in the gallery

  • Sound as material movement: Look at how frequencies and vibrations are converted into ceramic surfaces rather than illustrated literally.
  • Structures for inner experience: Notice how memory, distance and bodily sensation gather around Lee Chaewon’s small-scale forms.
  • A meeting point between change and form: One practice begins with signals from the outer world and the other with dispersed inner states; the exhibition shows where those observations briefly take shape.
