Gyeongju Silla Cultural Festival 2026: Shows, Free Entry and Travel Plans

Three places to save on your map

The 53rd Silla Cultural Festival takes place October 9–11, 2026, around Bonghwangdae Square and Woljeong Bridge in Gyeongju. The Hwarang Hip-hop Festa is at the lawn by Naenam Intersection. These are different venues: save Bonghwangdae at 261 Nodong-dong, Woljeong Bridge and Naenam Intersection separately before travelling.

Show times and the important clash

Hwabaek Jejeon runs October 9–10, 19:00–19:40, at Woljeong Bridge; it is not scheduled on October 11. Silk Road Festa and Dalbit Nanjang, the evening market, run October 9–11, 15:00–22:00, at Bonghwangdae Square. Hwarang Hip-hop Festa is October 10, 17:00–21:00, at Naenam Intersection. You cannot watch that concert in full and also attend the 19:00 bridge performance on the same day. To see both, consider the bridge show on October 9.

Hip-hop admission: free, with no ticket booking

The official 2026 viewing tips state that Hwarang Hip-hop Festa is free and requires no ticket reservation. There is no VIP zone this year and no assigned seating. The layout includes standing and lounge zones; bringing your own mat may be useful in the lounge area. Sitting in the standing zone is not permitted from one hour before the show. Entry does not guarantee your preferred position: follow staff instructions and crowd-management measures. The organizer discourages overnight queuing. Check official information before paying any unofficial seller for a supposed seat.

Plan the final journey into town

After arriving by rail or intercity bus, allow a separate journey to the venue. The arrival station, bus terminal, Bonghwangdae and Woljeong Bridge are not one location. Use Gyeongju’s live bus service to search from your actual arrival point, or give a taxi the exact venue name. Do not reuse an old station reference or last year’s shuttle timetable as current information. Suggested itinerary and return booking

Our suggested October 9 plan is street performances and the market at Bonghwangdae after 15:00, an early meal and transfer, then Hwabaek Jejeon at 19:00. This is an editorial suggestion, not an official package. Allow walking and admission-queue time. October 10 suits a hip-hop-focused visit; October 11 suits the Bonghwangdae programs. Reserve return transport and accommodation with enough time for downtown congestion after the show. Market food and merchandise are separate purchases. Check weather notices on the day. The related Gyeongju Heritage Night has different dates and should not be treated as a same-day festival program.
