Arirang Your Song follows a familiar Korean song through personal memories and public history. The Gugak Museum exhibition has been extended to September 27, 2026, and the official extension notice confirms opening during Chuseok. Admission is free.

Three ways to hear Arirang
The exhibition moves through Arirang of Consolation, Our Arirang and My Arirang. These themes ask who sang the song and what it meant in different circumstances. No specialist knowledge of Korean music is required to approach that question.
From recordings to shared memories
The first section introduces Na Woon-gyu’s 1926 film Arirang, historical recordings and uses of the song associated with independence fighters. The next considers collective memories, including the unified Korean team at the 1991 World Table Tennis Championships and major sporting events. Compare private consolation with the sound of a crowd singing together.
A participatory final section
The final section considers overseas Korean communities and Arirang as a cultural symbol. Visitors can scan a gallery QR code, answer questions about their feelings and create a personal Arirang using AI. Bring a smartphone if you wish to try it. The July lecture series has finished and should not be treated as an ongoing activity.

The exhibition occupies the museum’s third-floor special gallery, Tuesday–Sunday, 10:00–18:00. Mondays are closed. The original poster retains the old September 6 date; use the updated September 27 closing date for your plans. Exhibition inquiries: 02-580-3130. Allow time to discuss one recording or historical moment that interests you. A separate ticket is needed if you add a paid National Gugak Center performance.
