Sangseon Yaksu 2026 returns to the National Gugak Center’s Yeakdang on October 15 and 16 at 7:30pm. The Dance Theater’s production reconsiders traditional dance through ensemble movement, taking the image of water from Laozi’s Daodejing as a point of departure.

A returning repertory work
First presented in 2024, the production continued through regional performances and a Seoul revival in 2025, followed by the 2026 Yeongnam Dance Festival closing program in Busan. The forthcoming dates are the October Seoul performances; the supplied photographs come from earlier presentations.
Watching the ensemble
Directed by Kim Chung-han, the program draws on traditions including taepyeongmu, hunryeongmu, seungmu, salpuri, hallyangmu, sanjo, drum dance and mask dance. Watch how an individual gesture changes when repeated across a group, or how shifts in spacing guide the eye. Prior knowledge of every dance form is unnecessary.

S, A and B seats cost KRW 30,000, 20,000 and 10,000 respectively. Two standard tickets therefore cost KRW 20,000–60,000 before other expenses.
