Foreign Envoys Reception at Deoksugung 2026: October 2–4

Foreign Envoys Reception takes visitors through a reenactment of Korean Empire diplomacy in 1901. The Deoksugung programme runs October 2–4 from 15:00 to 16:30 each day. Participation is reserved separately from an ordinary palace visit, so establish your event booking before building an afternoon itinerary around it.

Foreign Envoys Reception reservations

The free programme is limited to 40 participants per session. Ticketlink reservations opened at 14:00 on September 17, with a maximum of two tickets per person. Check remaining or returned tickets directly; publication of the timetable is not evidence that places are still available. Free admission to an activity does not remove its reservation requirement.

Follow diplomacy through four scenes

The announced structure moves from Gwangmyeongmun to an imperial audience at Hamnyeongjeon, diplomatic dialogue at Jeonggwanheon, and music and dance in the forecourt of Jeukjodang and Junmyeongdang. Participants take a reporter role, supported by a booklet and web app. Follow who is meeting whom and how the purpose of each encounter changes as the group moves.

Prepare for a moving programme

Locate the designated meeting point in your booking instructions and leave time to reach it before 15:00. Comfortable shoes suit a programme that connects several palace spaces; charge your phone if using the web app. The reenactment is a contemporary interpretation of historical events, not an unmediated record of 1901. The published reference photograph similarly illustrates the format rather than documenting the forthcoming sessions.

Ticketlink lists telephone booking on 1588-7890 for eligible groups such as visitors aged 65 and over, disabled visitors and qualifying veterans. Event enquiries go to 1522-2295. Confirm eligibility, palace admission treatment and weather arrangements in the current notice. Non-Korean speakers should also establish language support before relying on a dialogue-led activity.
