A Hahoe Village cultural walk reads walls, roofs and lanes rather than racing through a checklist of famous houses. This is a lived-in village, so follow public paths and clearly open spaces. Alternate between the village’s wider setting beside the Nakdong River and small details at street level. October admission ends at 16:30, making an early daytime arrival useful.

Choose a single lane

Use the entrance map to orient yourself, then compare wall heights and roof lines along one public lane. Read thatch and tile as different materials, not as a ranking of houses. An open gate can still lead to a private home; enter only spaces marked for visitors. Step aside to discuss details without blocking daily village traffic.

Separate river views from village access

Turn from small street scenes toward the village’s relationship with the river. Select a public riverside section according to weather and local access. The walk does not require a trip across the river or up Buyongdae Cliff. Choosing either a broad landscape view or detailed lane exploration keeps the day manageable and leaves time for the return.

Check each event separately

Mask dance, traditional fireworks and evening activities follow their own calendars and booking conditions. A village ticket does not automatically include a desired performance. Both black-and-white photographs are actual March 2014 records, used in their original monochrome form. They do not show present autumn colour, construction or access. Finish by reconsidering one lane scene you noticed at the start.
