When Hilarion arrives at Giselle’s grave, he is forced into the fatal dance and perishes. Albrecht then visits the tomb bearing white lilies to mourn his lost love. Though ordered by Myrtha to destroy him, Giselle’s pure and enduring love defies death itself, shielding Albrecht through the grueling night until the morning church bells ring, banishing the spirits back to their graves and granting Albrecht redemption.
