Choose the performance before choosing your date

The 63rd Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival runs October 4–11, 2026, around Hwaseong Fortress. A visit to Haenggung Square followed by one evening performance makes a practical day trip. The royal procession is on October 4, while Yajo runs October 7–10: they cannot be combined on the same date.

Yajo and Seonyumong reservations

Yajo starts at 20:00 at Yeonmudae on October 7–10. The city’s August 24 booking announcement lists admission at KRW 5,000. Seonyumong runs October 5–11, 19:00–20:00, at Yongyeon Pond below Banghwasuryujeong; selected reserved seats cost KRW 5,000. This does not mean all Seonyumong viewing is ticketed seating. Booking opened August 24 at 14:00, but availability is not guaranteed. Follow the official reservation link below to check the session, seat and cancellation conditions. Other programs, including Haenggung Yahwa, have their own viewing arrangements.

Getting there from Suwon Station

The official Suwon visitor guide lists buses 60 and 7-2 from the AK Plaza stop across from Suwon Station Exit 7. Alight at Hwaseong Haenggung for an approximately five-minute walk to Haenggung Square, 825 Jeongjo-ro. For Yajo, check the Changnyongmun–Yeonmudae stop; Yeonmudae is at 20 Changnyong-daero 103beon-gil. Save the actual performance venue, not just the festival name. These are normal routes: procession-day restrictions may cause diversions, so check live arrivals and festival traffic notices before departure.

Suggested day trip: select one evening show

Our suggested October 7–10 plan is an afternoon around Haenggung Square, an early dinner and your chosen night performance. Seonyumong ends at 20:00, exactly when Yajo starts. Allowing for walking and admission queues, choose one or visit on separate evenings. Book the return journey with enough time to reach the station after the crowd disperses. Eat before admission rather than relying on a tight dinner break.

Before you travel

Many festival activities are free, while some performances and experiences require payment or advance registration. Follow the entry instructions on your booking and check same-day weather notices. Comfortable shoes and a light evening layer are useful for the outdoor fortress and pond setting. The related media-art event has a separate schedule; check its dates before adding it to your itinerary.
