Eight Years of Artistic Research Resumed After Sixteen Years
Artist Yang-ah Ham returns to Art Sonje Center for her first solo exhibition in sixteen years. This comprehensive presentation centers on the fruits of ‘Undefined Panorama’, an ambitious long-term research project carried out across eight years.
Documenting social structures and the textured realities of individual lives, Ham’s artistic practice illuminates how personal narratives intersect with broader collective systems in contemporary society. Three Core Artworks to Discover in the Exhibition
Across the galleries, 2026 newly commissioned video installations containing eight years of rigorous research connect seamlessly with foundational past works.
1. Circular 8-Channel Video Installation: Undefined Panorama 4.0
The new work Undefined Panorama 4.0 (2026) is a monumental 8-channel video installation structured within a circular architectural format, posing probing questions about cyclical coexistence between human and non-human entities.
2. Digital Gardening and Private Monologue: Listening Speaker, Speaking Other
The new work Listening Speaker, Speaking Other (2026) draws upon the methodology of “digital gardening” to examine how the private, intimate monologues of atomized individuals connect to larger socio-political narratives.
3. Trajectory of an Eight-Year Artistic Research Project
Visitors can retrace the chronological trajectory of Ham’s research, from Sleep, which critically examined social systems in states of collective disaster, to Undefined Panorama 2.0, which traced the flows of global financial capitalism. To observe another contemporary artist reinterpreting social systems and spatial language, consider reading our guide to Pictos and Pitwall.
